Sailaway at Boardmasters Festival 2017

For the Sailaway crew, Boardmasters is boldly marked as the festival to attend. With its rapidly growing reputation and stellar line-up, Boardmasters was needless to say one helluva weekend! And how could it not be? The sun was (partially) shining, the sea was (ahem) refreshing, the cider was flowing, and once again Sailaway’s glorious crew were there to welcome you to our little Aladdin’s cave and get you festival ready.

The preparations started early on in the week, where the team gathered down at Fistral to start creating the pop-up shop. With endless cups of tea (cheers Pasty Shack), the return of the annual jokes and a shared can-do attitude, the stall was up and we were ready to rock ‘n' roll. Those committed festival fans who decided to pitch up early swung by to check out the freshest selection of dresses on day one, ripe for the picking.

Fast forward to Friday and the atmosphere was amped to say the least. Cornish heart throb Nathan Ball got the crowd raring for an immensely fun night. It was great to see girls dancing around without a care in the world in their Sailaway dresses. We may be biased, but wellies teamed with a Sailaway number makes a killer combo. Next the crowd welcomed Two Door Cinema Club who packed a punch of anthemic indie electro, setting the pace for the weekend. The open air party down at The Point kept us up until the early hours with DJs serving up some of our all time favourite tunes. Needless to say it was the ultimate beach party in our own back yard.

Come Saturday morning (and feeling rather blurry eyed), the crew were set for the busiest day of the week at Boardmasters. As well as the Sailaway ambassadors on hand, a couple of our close friends joined in the fun, too. Sami's new wanderlust inspired jewellery collection Catch The Sunrise made its first appearance, whilst Mel rocked her beautiful bohemian Melon Made headdresses. Our beloved Jolly Brown set up shop next door, which meant laughs aplenty and tonnes of divine vintage goodies to team with your Sailaway dress. After a whirlwind of a day serving you lovely lot, watching the surf comp and devouring glorious local festival food, it was time to head to Watergate.

First stop was at The House of Marley, where Sailaway babe and pro surfer Lucie Rose Donlan was warming up the crowd on stage. This chilled out area was the perfect spot to clink our cocktails and cheers to a busy day at the shop and celebrate the night ahead. A few cosmopolitans later and we were throwing down some serious moves on the main stage to Jamiroquai, who did not disappoint!

Come Sunday morning we swapped stories from the night before, and enjoyed a chilled start, cups of tea in hand. It was so lovely to see many familiar faces pop into the shop throughout the day. The drizzle overhead didn’t dampen our mood, with tunes rocking and dresses flying off the rails and we just about made it up to the main festival site in time to enjoy the brilliant Alt-J crack out some of our all-time favourite travelling songs.

And just like that, another whirlwind week at our beloved Boardies had come to a close. It’s always a bittersweet feeling when a week flashes by with a blink of an eye, but we loved spending every second of it with you guys, sharing our glorious slice of the Cornish coastline with friends old and new.

Until next time… The Sailaway Crew (Ellie, Enya, Sami, Mel, Lucie and Mollie the Cockapoo)
